Production of the Sampoorna hybrid coconut seedling

I hope you have seen our video on the process of hybridization. All the basic details are there. This one is on the actual production of the Deejay Sampoorna® Hybrid and what it takes to produce a very good hybrid. I repeat a little of what has been shown and said before.

At Deejay all look for “the best way to do the task”, so our breeding program is constantly being upgraded and improved. We believe, that “a sale is not complete until the farmer achieves the anticipated benefits”. This is because all know that in coconut farming, a good hybrid is not good when the best is available – for a farmer plants a coconut tree only once in his lifetime, and he cannot change it for a better hybrid even if he wants to. He must Only plant the best in the first place.  So we ensure in the first place, that we supply hybrids only, destroying all doubtful seedlings. To block the adulteration of seedlings [for no one can tell the difference once the spurious is mixed with the genuine] a hologram sticker is attached to every seedling at the nursery stage.  If a seedling does not have the sticker, do not accept the seedlings. Furthermore, Deejay has a Pedigreed breeding program for the patent-applied-for Deejay Dwarf, which continuously improves the average production of all the mother palms.  Added to this, the Continuous Improvement Program [CIP] at every farm, though very costly, gives the productivity of the Sampoorna a further boost. 5% of the poorest producing mothers are replaced every year in all our farms by the progeny of the crème de la crème Deejay Dwarf Mothers. This adds a huge cost, to Deejay yet, we believe, is a huge benefit for the farmer.

Deejay has taken a commitment to produce only the very best and only the most profitable hybrid for the farming community.  This is our focus and our goal.
